The PowerDrive V2 trolling motor from Minn Kota marks an evolutionary leap forward for the company. The original PowerDrive was one of the company's most popular trolling motors ever, but the PowerDrive 2 takes things to the next level with such features as an improved deploy mechanism, a new ergonomically designed foot pedal, and digital electronics. The PowerDrive 2 is equipped with a deploy-assist lever that keeps the motor securely stowed during rough water runs and while trailering, but that also unlocks quickly when you need to deploy the motor. As a result, you can drop in and pursue fish at a moment's notice.

The PowerDrive V2 trolling motor runs smoothly and quietly on the water.
The side-to-side steering foot pedal, meanwhile, includes a momentary/constant on switch, a speed control knob for precise adjustments, and an 18-inch cord with waterproof connector plugs.

The PowerDrive V2 comes standard with Minn Kota's Digital Maximizer technology, which helps the battery run up to five times longer on a single charge, along with an indestructible composite shaft (guaranteed for life) and a push-to-test battery meter. Plus, the PowerDrive 2 is compatible with a host of convenient accessories (sold separately). Minn Kota's Universal Sonar 2 system, for example, provides interference-free sonar performance, water temperature sensing, and dual beam technology to give you an expanded view underwater and greater bottom detail. The Universal Sonar 2 includes an integrated and protected transducer that's compatible with most major fish-finder brands. In addition, the PowerDrive 2 is compatible with Minn Kota's patented AutoPilot navigation system. With the AutoPilot, you simply point the motor head in the direction you want to travel and the boat will automatically keep you on that course. Finally, the motor offers extra-large windings and commutators that dissipate heat, resulting in cooler operation, extended battery power, and a longer motor life. Minn Kota even added a unique bearing system with reduced friction to cut fish-spooking noise. Ideal for pontoon boats, the PowerDrive V2 motor offers 68 pounds of thrust.

About Minn Kota
Minn Kota is the oldest manufacturer of electric fishing motors in the world with nearly 70 years of hard-earned experience in the lab and on the water. Throughout their history, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology. The Minn Kota electric trolling motor began its life in 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota. Mr. O. G. Schmidt, inventor of the trolling motor, was known to be a man of many diverse ideas. Prior to the trolling motor, Mr. Schmidt invented, produced and sold a copper soldering torch from his home in Wheatland, North Dakota. Due to its success, manufacturing operations were then moved to Fargo. Because of its proximity to the MINNesota-North DaKOTA border, Mr. Schmidt named the business The Minn Kota Manufacturing Company.

Can a trolling motor power a pontoon vessel?

I am interested in buying a "relations" boat - just something to get us out on the water, enjoying the sun, etc. However, some of the local places (lakes in the state forest) allow only electric motors - no gasoline engines. In other words, a trolling...

The Most way to do it,is buy a pontoon with 2 motors on it.. A pontoon moves thru the water much easier than a normal boat so you can get away with Lower horsepower engines.. and theres no reason a trolling motor...

I have a 2009 Sun Tracker Pontoon Small craft. 20' long and about 2500 lbs. If I want to do a lot of fishing, do I need a trolling motor to save gas and to fish quietly? If so, what brand and size motor do I need?

The 61st annual Spokane Rowing-boat Show serves as one-stop shop - The Spokesman Review

Small Big Town’s “Pontoon” is blaring outside the door. And then it hits: new boat smell. And that’s exactly what they want at the annual glitz at any rate for all things that float. The 61st annual Spokane Boat Show at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center is the kind of show that can talk into a couple they need a hydraulic boat lift even if they don’t own lakefront property. “It’s a one-stop shop for a guy who has a boat or a lake house,” show executive Scott Thompson said. Boating “is a good way to spend quality time with your family and friends, or to just get away on a private sustain. I walked right past the audacious Nautique Wake Boat, with its $124,231 price tag and a sound system that could overwhelm out a concert at the Gorge, and tried to find a couple of examples of a boat that could do it all. My idea of the perfect boat is something that can lower my wife and some buddies on search for walleye at dawn and tow a screaming kid on an inner-tube-of-horror later that same afternoon. Amusing Baalman, of Traveland RV & Marine of Kennewick, brought a new line of boats under the Elite name. The boats are made by Thunder Jet in Clarkston, but the Elite rating is a private label exclusive to the dealership. “These will do just about anything you want to do,” Baalman said. The boats look like the kind of determined, thick-hulled craft made to brave the shallow water and hidden boulders of the Snake River. Most of the higher-end models have a weakness for hard full-enclosure to keep out the rain and an 8-foot wide amidships that can handle seats, live wells, and lots of limit-handling humans. But unlike the traditional jet sleds made for extremely shallow water, all the Elite boats on display had brawny outboard motors. They also featured large metal platforms allowing swimmers easy transitions from the water into the boats. The high-sided boats are made with intense sheets of aluminum that are welded together. “They’ll handle rough water,” he said. “And with the aluminum, the owners like the incident that they can run them up on shore and not worry about fiberglass damage. Baalman had the Elite boats priced from $29,999 up to $59,999. “But if you want a pilot homestead on a 26- or 28-foot boat, it could be $140,000 to $160,000 depending on how you build and power it,” he said. While the boats are not specifically designed for open-handedly sports, the boats can handle outboards up to 150 horsepower, which is plenty for wake boarding, skiing or towing a tube. “When you invest that much money on a boat, you want to be able to be on the water as much as you can,” he said. I next checked out some smaller aluminum boats on display by Spokane Valley Maritime. They had everything from high-end Ranger boats designed for all things fishing to V-hull aluminums with the power for sport and utility for fishing. “These boats are enthusiastic for if you don’t know what you want to do,” said Erick Morris, who works for Spokane Valley Marine. He showed off a 16-foot-6 Starweld motor yacht priced at $23,999. It had an electric trolling motor mounted on the bow and a rear-bench seat that folds down and becomes an spreading of the rear fishing deck. It also has removable cushions for seats on the bow that can be moved to expose storage bins and a live proper for caught fish. “You can add what you need to make it the boat you want,” Morris said. I stumbled onto a South Bay tritoon pontoon sailboat. This 25-foot South Bay, on display by Specialty Recreation &. Source: www.spokesman.com
